Water filtration is a mandatory process for any water treatment system. But it is not always possible to install the equipment on the company's premises. In the case of facilities under construction, there are no wastewater disposal systems at all, and water is needed. Some settlements do not have access to a water source or there is no specialized equipment for treatment. There can be many situations. When there is a water source, but the nearby pipeline is far away. Or there is no water supply system nearby at all. In such situations, special autonomous facilities are used. Such a system will allow you to use any source of water to turn it into drinking water.

1. What are block-modular stations?

Block-modular stations are separate autonomous structures with water filtration equipment. This structure can be used at any objects: during construction, at industrial enterprises, as a temporary solution for water treatment. Any source of water is used for water intake, both surface water body and borehole water. Through pipes, it enters the block-modular station, where there are various filters. They provide quality water purification from many impurities. As from inorganic compounds, and removes organics, nitrates, heavy metals, excess gas. That is, the station is a complete water treatment system. All treated water fully meets the requirements and can be used both as drinking and technical water.

The convenience of the installation is in its autonomy, unpretentiousness and versatility. Block-modular station on the principle of filtration, performance and quality of purification does not differ from existing stationary water treatment systems. That is, in fact, is a full-fledged professional replacement of the water treatment plant. It can be of different design and filling. Depends on the initial data of water, the place of intake and purpose. Also a key factor is the purpose of filtered water. For potable one norms of purification and, therefore, a certain set of equipment is collected. For purification of technical water or wastewater, other requirements.

Modular stations are called block stations, because they consist of blocks and can be connected into one system. That is, if necessary, several containers for water treatment are installed. And they, interacting with each other, begin filtration. In addition, block-modular stations are convenient in transportation. They, from the factory, can be immediately brought to the site, and special installation of the device is not required.

Modular stations can be both stationary objects and temporary. Stationary objects are installed for a long time. Usually such systems are designed for continuous operation in one place. For example, in the construction of an industrial enterprise. Temporary devices are characterized by their mobility. They can be transported during the filtration process. Such a phenomenon is convenient during construction. When the work is finished in one place, the station, together with all the equipment is moved to another location or facility.

2. Where is the block-modular water treatment plant used?

The field of use of structures is quite large:

  • Modernization of housing and communal services systems.
  • Constructed facilities of any purpose or their reconstruction.
  • Production of petroleum enterprises, mining industry.
  • Food and beverage industry. Pharmaceutical direction.
  • Hotels, cafes, sanatoriums, resort facilities.
  • Military unit, temporary settlements of military personnel.
  • Areas subject to climatic cataclysms.
  • Temporary or remote settlements.
  • Boiler houses.
  • Transportation facilities. Vehicle fleets.
  • Seasonal production facilities.
  • Emergency water supply, during repair of the main pipeline.
  • Agricultural facilities.

The list of installation of this structure is impressive. But most importantly at any facility block-modular station is able to produce purified water, despite its primary indicators. This is one of the priority facts of installation.

Structurally, such stations represent an external frame, which is the basis for attaching equipment. It can be made in different variants, depending on where the station will be installed. Inside the housing is located equipment. It is also different and includes several types of filtration. To maintain optimum working conditions, inside the case is built-in ventilation, heating and fire extinguishing system. For safety, the container is equipped with a light signal of emergency situations. Pumps are also included. The external design may vary. All units are ready from the factory.

3. Characteristics and filling of the station

Stations can be of different types: localized or centralized. In the first case, suitable for water treatment for a specific object. For example, for a cottage settlement or a building under construction. In such places there is no possibility of connecting to a common water supply system and there is only a source. In the second case, the station is connected to an existing wastewater disposal system. The decision to connect is made on the basis of economic indicators, in those places where it is most appropriate.

The main indicator of the system is its ability to quickly filter a large volume of water. This is called high capacity. Block-modular station has a long service life. Its operation lasts more than 20 years. After the expiration date, disposal or complete replacement is not necessary. The system is fully inspected and the most worn parts are replaced. After that the station can function again.

Since the stations come ready to use from the manufacturing plant. The external design and internal filling are agreed in advance. For this purpose, data on the future purpose of the system is used. That is, for what purposes it will be used. Either it is filtration of drinking water for country settlements, or it is industrial purification. Also on the performance affect the climatic conditions. In general, the temperature range of the container is quite large. From -55 to +55. Such characteristics allow you to install blocks even in the most northern points. But when the temperature drops, for optimal operation of the equipment and avoiding overconsumption of resource consumption, the block is insulated with special material. The outer casing is made of steel or stainless steel and is additionally coated with an anti-corrosion coating. The interior is made of clean materials and is fire resistant. Inside the enclosure there is a frame, which is made of durable materials. It is necessary for fixing the equipment and its immobility during transportation.

In addition, ventilation and heating systems are pre-installed. This is also necessary for the effective operation of the equipment. Which requires its own conditions. All fire safety conditions are observed. From alarms to emergency lighting. The station has its own backup generator, in case of abrupt shutdown or power failure.

In addition to the standard filling, stations can be equipped with additional sensors or filters, control units of the system.

The internal stuffing, consisting of purification equipment, can be different. It depends on several factors. Influences and the composition of water and the purpose and required performance, treatment methods. In principle, the filling of the housing is only important for effective water purification.

4. What are treatment methods used?

For different types of water, different equipment is used. Therefore, the filling of the station will differ. Consider the standard purification schemes.

Purification from mechanical impurities. Removal of iron elements and hardness salts. First of all, the water flow should get rid of large contaminants. This can be particles of mud, silt, stones and other elements. To get rid of such impurities, the water passes through a coarse filter. Then, pumps are pumped for further filtration. And the next stage is de-ironing. Here can be used special filters deferrizatory, working with the help of catalytic exchange or ionic. The resulting sludge is utilized, and the water is further softened. Here, too, different methods can be used, but most often a filter with ionic resin is installed. The final step is the disinfection of the water and the removal of viruses and bacteria.

When using reverse osmosis technology, the essence is a little more complicated. First there is a mandatory pre-treatment, followed by a series of membrane filters. The concentrate goes down the drain, and the purified water is transferred to the tank.

Getting rid of organic matter, ozone treatment is often used. But only after mechanical filtration. Ozone is able to remove all elements of organic contaminants and disinfect water.

If it is necessary to purify heavily polluted water, then chemical substances are used. This, of course, speeds up the process. But additional filtration of wastewater is necessary. It is also mandatory to install a doser, which will control the supply of substances. All this is additional equipment, but it can also be included in the standard equipment. If reagents are used, the service costs increase. As filtration requires the purchase of chemicals and they contaminate the filtration elements more strongly and more often. Therefore, washing is carried out more often.

In general, washing of filtration elements is a separate topic. It starts when the filter medium is filled with impurities. The beginning of washing is signaled by a special sensor, if the system is automated. It depends on the initial settings. Either flushing will be activated when a certain volume of water passes through the filters. Or by time. When a signal is received, the system goes into standby mode and begins to wash the filtration elements. Different filters require different cleaning. For example, membrane or coarse filters, it is enough to rinse with water in the opposite direction. As for ionic cartridges, which are often used in softening and deferrization. Their regeneration consists in washing with a concentrated salt solution. The duration of washing depends on the degree of filling of the filters with impurities and the characteristics of the system.

Different methods and therefore different equipment will be used for different types of water. In addition, it is selected on the basis of performance and economic optimality.

5. Installation of the block-modular station

As such, block-modular stations do not require installation. They are fully equipped and can work immediately after connection. To start work, the equipment is connected to the source of water supply. This can be a central water supply or a well or ground source. In addition, it is necessary to supply electricity. If several block containers are used, they are connected in turn.

The container is installed on any surface. It can be, as an asphalted area, and any ground. The convenience of installation lies in the unpretentiousness of the place of installation. If necessary, they are installed even on swampy soils.

After installation and connection to the sources, commissioning works are carried out. The operability of all elements is checked. The station can operate in manual and automatic mode. In the first case, the filters are washed manually, as well as some functions are started only after pressing the button. Automatic mode completely removes human presence from the filtration chain and independently controls all processes. But before this, it is necessary to set the parameters. For this purpose, a control unit is used. It allows you to specify all the data for optimal operation in advance. If necessary, the block is also configured for data transmission to a remote device. That is, you can see all processes, emerging failures and errors, system performance and water consumption.

Ease of installation and commissioning is so simple and clear that it does not require special knowledge. All manipulations are specified in the instructions to the modular station.

6. Advantages of a modular plant

The block-modular station has a large number of advantages that facilitate the filtration process:

  • Containers come ready from the factory, already with the necessary equipment.
  • The possibility of using any purification methods, which allows you to filter water from any source.
  • Reliable filtration technology and quality purification that meets the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological service.
  • Price-quality ratio. Which greatly affects the economic indicator.
  • The possibility of modernization with additional components.
  • Compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Minimal time for preparation before starting work.
  • The possibility of automating the system.
  • Convenient configuration and compactness of the units.
  • The possibility of combining several systems together.
  • Autonomy of the construction.
  • Convenient transportation.

That is, this station fully allows you to solve all the problems of water treatment. The use of several types of filters provides better purification. If reagents are not used during operation, it allows you to reduce the consumption of resources. But at the same time, the use of chemicals significantly accelerates filtration. It depends on the requirements and purpose of the purification station. All stations have been tested and have quality certificates. The materials used are environmentally friendly and do not have a negative impact on water. If there is a need for modernization, for example, when changing the composition of water or its purpose. The complex can always be supplemented. For example, by installing additional filtration elements or adding a purification method. If radical changes are needed, reagent dosing is introduced. They will remove almost all impurities at once. But at the same time, the process ceases to be reagent-free. The use of a particular filtration method depends on the purpose of the system and cleaning tasks. For example, for filtration of technical water does not necessarily require complete purification, as for drinking water. Or on the contrary, for boiler rooms the presence of inorganic elements, organics, bacteria and minerals in the water is unacceptable. The system is able to correct the composition of water and improve its organoleptic properties. For this purpose, disinfection is installed at the finishing stage of treatment.

7. Conclusions

Block-modular water purification station is a universal way for filtration. It is installed in any place, unpretentious in operation, does not require any special conditions. At the same time, it allows you to receive purified water, according to the requirements of all SanPiN. In some cases, the installation of containers is the only option for water purification. As such, service maintenance is not required. If there are any failures, the filtration element or sensor is replaced. But, as a rule, the stations work smoothly for the entire service life. And this is quite a lot, about 20 years.

Every year, block-modular stations are gaining more and more popularity and expanding areas of use. The fact that they can be transported ready-made is very convenient for remote areas. Their autonomy allows you to filter water where it would seem there is no possibility. Low consumption of resources gives economic benefits, which is convenient for many industrial enterprises. In addition, the block-modular station can be installed indoors. But then the design will be without an enclosure. When combined with the existing water treatment system, the station fits perfectly into the filtration scheme. But at the same time it can work perfectly well on its own.

The station is selected based on the needs and required performance. In principle, this is the basic data that is required. Information about the composition of water is necessary for the selection of filtration equipment. If the station operates in the extreme north, this is indicated in the application. In this case, the entire housing is insulated, so that the equipment continues its effective work. Sensors are also usually added to avoid human presence. The system is fully autonomous and is on self-support, if necessary. And is fully automated, which reduces the risk of failures and errors. Therefore, block-modular stations are an effective way to qualitatively purify any water from existing impurities.
